Bridal Make-up: That’s what the wedding photographers and the make-up professionals say
The wedding day is one of the most photographed days of life – it is clear that the make-up should last all day and look great. Do you wrinkle your forehead and ask yourself slightly worried “how …?” Because all the evenings with smeared eyeliner and lipstick on your teeth? And what about the bride tears? Do not worry – we got you covered.
How should the bride’s make-up look at all?
You agree with us when we say that the wedding day is not the day for experiments. The golden rule: Decide for tones that you know you are match. You should always look like yourself, just in “something better.” So nicer, more defined and especially well-groomed. Brides can sometimes lose themselves too much in the preparations and have then the tendency, also in the make-up to extravagance tend to – after all, it is a special day and woman wants to impress. Especially the person who is waiting for the altar. Do not forget that he has fallen in love with you and your “normal” look.
A thought for “trends” – even if contouring is just the thing, the look you choose should be timeless and elegant. You want to look at your wedding photos in 15 years and find yourself modern – so fashionable and fresh in retrospective.
Bride Make-up: Sample Make-up and Preparation
Next question: “I spend money on a make-up artists – how do I do everything right?”
With the make-up artist, it is like with the wedding photographers: the better they know you, the more likely the dream looks. We recommend that you make a sample make-up. You can compare with our E-Sessions, in which you and the camera in the months before the wedding will get to know each other.
You can pay attention to this:
- 1. Book your first make-up date about three months before the wedding. If you do not like the look you have chosen, you have plenty of time to choose something new.
- 2. Preparing for the appointment: Most brides are looking for hair styles, but the make-up is still on the line. Look at brides who have a skin tone similar to you and whose make-up you like. You can find inspiration on Pinterest or Wedding blogs. Look at the selected pictures with your stylist, discuss the features and assure yourself that she has the same picture in mind as you.
- 3. Wear white clothing (or the colour of your wedding dress): so you can make sure the look is really round.
Make Photos. Some brides like the make-up in the photos, but not in Natura. Or the other way around. You can avoid this by checking your look (in daylight).
Unsure which look fits at all? Get ready for some makeover events or try out some make-up bars in department stores: the make-up professionals give you now and then so good tips that you can find your favourite look easy.
Make-up tips concretely: lips
Lipstick or lip gloss? Let both remain and decide for a long-lasting product, in Rosé / Nudetones. The reason: If you choose “normal” lipstick, a lot of it will probably land on the face of your groom. On the dress. On the cheeks of the guests … or on the champagne glass. And that would be a pity.
Too much gloss on the lips by means of gloss you should also avoid, because that can look unnatural or even flashlight. Worse, if you pull a veil over your face, the fine cloth sticks to the lips. The same when you choose a hairstyle with open hair: Even the hair can stick to the glossy lips.
Make-up tips concretely: eyes
Too dark cat eyes and too much black are too hard of a contrast to the white wedding dress, which symbolizes purity and innocence. That is why light, bright tones, which emphasize the eye colour, are clearly better choices.
You may choose your mascara like black and water resistant – but if the tears flow, you should not wipe them, but dab – that spares the make-up.
What about artificial lashes? If you want to make the mimic, you should select individual particles and not entire wreaths. This looks more natural. Test them at least about two weeks before the wedding ceremony – so you can relocate in the event of an allergic reaction or inconvenience.
Make-up tips concretely: eyebrows
Do not forget the eyebrows – they surround your face and can totally change a look – yes, improve! An eyebrow waxing 5 days before the wedding takes them in shape and powder or gel keeps them in perfect fit during the ceremony.
Make-up tips concretely: primer
Your foundation should be light – average opacity is sufficient to the general prevailing opinion that one must apply thickly in order to look good on pictures. Your complexion will radiate by itself at the wedding. In order for the photographers of this fixture to capture the wedding photos better, the Foundation should not be too fat. Better alternative: Work with a (pigmented) primer.
Too brown: Most brides want to be a bit browner than usual in their photos – and plunge into the solarium or the sun in the week before the wedding. This is a stress on the skin and can lead to redness. And if you are just playing with the DIY Self Tanning Thoughts: Please do not! Spraytan can be an option but you should build your tan over the weeks before the wedding – choose the brightest nuance over several sessions.
